1. Acceptance of Terms
By joining New Wave Academy (“the Academy”), all members (or parents/guardians where applicable) confirm they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Training, Sparring & Assumption of Risk
2.1 Martial arts training involves physical contact and carries an inherent risk of injury.
2.2 This includes, but is not limited to, drilling, live sparring, grappling, and striking activities.
2.3 Members understand and accept the risks associated with all training activities, including controlled sparring.
2.4 Members participate entirely at their own risk.
2.5 Members must follow all coach instructions at all times.
2.6 Members confirm they are medically fit to participate and must inform the Academy of any injuries or health conditions.
2.7 The Academy reserves the right to restrict or refuse participation for safety reasons.

3. Liability
3.1 The Academy accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage, except where required by law.
3.2 Members are responsible for their own belongings.

4. Insurance
4.1 Annual insurance (£20) covers member-to-member liability only.
4.2 This is not personal injury insurance.
4.3 Members should arrange additional cover if required.

5. Membership & Minimum Term
5.1 Minimum membership term: 3 months.
5.2 Membership continues monthly thereafter until cancelled.

6. Cancellation
6.1 Early cancellation (within 3 months) incurs a fee equal to one month’s membership.
6.2 After 3 months: 1 full calendar month’s notice required.
6.3 Notice must be submitted via official channels (Gymdesk/email).
6.4 Incorrect notice: £30 admin fee.
6.5 No refunds for unused time.

7. Payments
7.1 Payments are collected automatically via agreed method (e.g. GoCardless).
7.2 By joining, members authorise recurring payments.
7.3 Late fee: £5.
7.4 Missed payments may result in suspension or termination.
7.5 Outstanding balances may be pursued.

8. Sign-Up Fees
- Adults/Teens: £40
- Kids: £80–£120 (includes uniform + insurance)
- Non-refundable

9. Membership Freeze
- £20 fee
- 1–3 months
- Must be requested in advance and approved

10. Equipment
10.1 Members must provide appropriate equipment.
10.2 Equipment is provided for trials only.
10.3 Hire: £10 per class.
10.4 Unsafe equipment may result in refusal to train.

11. Kids Membership (Parent/Guardian Responsibility)
11.1 Parents/guardians are responsible for the child’s conduct and safety.
11.2 Parents must ensure the child is medically fit to train.
11.3 Parents must inform the Academy of any medical conditions or injuries.
11.4 Parents must ensure timely attendance and collection.
11.5 Disruptive or unsafe behaviour may result in removal from class.

12. Kids Uniform
12.1 Uniforms become the responsibility of the parent/member.
12.2 Replacement is required as children grow.
12.3 Lost/damaged uniforms must be replaced.

13. Conduct
13.1 Respectful behaviour is required at all times.
13.2 Unsafe or inappropriate behaviour may result in suspension or termination without refund.
13.3 The Academy reserves the right to refuse entry.

14. Belt Grading & Progression
14.1 Belt progression is based on attendance, skill level, attitude, and coach assessment.
14.2 Gradings are not guaranteed and are awarded at the Academy’s discretion.
14.3 Membership fees do not include grading fees unless explicitly stated.

15. Class Access
15.1 Classes may be limited due to capacity or scheduling.
15.2 The Academy does not guarantee access to specific sessions.

16. Photography & Media
16.1 Photos/videos may be used for promotion.
16.2 Opt-out available in writing.
16.3 Extra care is taken with children.

17. Changes to Terms
Terms may be updated with reasonable notice.

18. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
